Apparel Technical Design Grad Working at Alliance Apparel/REVOLVE

Earlier this year, Megan Feinberg graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Apparel Technical Design. We recently chatted with the San Diego native to learn more about her time at FIDM and what she's doing now.

Why did you choose the degree program in Apparel Technical Design? I graduated with my AA in Merchandise Product Development and was still overwhelmed with my options. I knew I wanted to pursue a bachelor's, but wasn't sure what to focus on.  The Apparel Technical Design BS offered a curriculum that had a lot of the aspects of the industry I enjoy.

What were you doing prior to FIDM? Before FIDM, I worked at Nordstrom Rack in San Diego. After my AA degree, and before I began my BS, I worked for One Down Dog in Los Angeles as an assistant retail manager. I worked directly with the owner to develop a line of graphic tees and tanks for the store.

Tell us about your current position. I work as an Assistant Technical Designer and work directly for the Technical Designer for the brand Majorelle, which is an Alliance Apparel/REVOLVE brand. I am responsible for speccing all samples and taking accurate notes during fittings. I am also starting to take more responsibilities as my time here passes and have begun commenting on samples and providing grade rules for the vendors.

What do you love most about your job? I love that I am doing something I have fun doing. Fit sessions are always fun and surprising to see what looks great, and what is way wrong.
